Great Lakes Gets Involved in the King James Saga

E-mail Print PDF

Just received this press release from Great Lakes in Cleveland, OH.  Apparently they weren't too happy about the whole Lebron James situation either. Kind of a funny play off the whole "witness" campaign.

This World Champion Won’t Leave Cleveland!

GLBC brews limited release, pub exclusive “Quitness”

July 13, 2010--CLEVELAND, OHIO--Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC), the award-winning craft brewer of lagers and ales and recipient of multiple world champion titles, announces the limited release of its new pub exclusive “Quitness”.  “Quitness”, named for obvious reasons given the recent “Decision”, is a cask conditioned, dry hopped India Pale Ale that is sure to be as bitter as the mood of Cleveland these days!  “Connecting to our city, our fans and our community has made Great Lakes Brewing Company what it is today.  Making lemonade out of lemons comes naturally as evidenced by some of our other beers like the Burning River Pale Ale and Blackout Stout.  Rest assured Cleveland – GLBC isn’t going anywhere and we will continue to win world [beer] championships,” comments Patrick Conway, co-owner of GLBC.

“Quitness” is slated for GLBC training camp (the Brewpub that is) starting at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 until Saturday, July 17, 2010 (while supplies last). This IPA will be drawn from a firkin and only available in the GLBC Brewpub located across from the West Side Market on Market Avenue in Cleveland (sorry, no growlers).  “Quitness” will inevitably come and go, so be sure to be there for the home opener!

The release of “Quitness” will be announced on GLBC’s website (www.greatlakesbrewing.com), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/greatlakesbrewingco) and via Twitter (www.twitter.com/GLBC_Cleveland).

New Homebrew Shop

I got a chance to stop by a new homebrew shop called Brew Your Own Bottle out in Haddon Township in NJ yesterday evening and meet the young owner.  The place looks great and seems to have a good variety of supplies.  Brett Mullin is the owner and is very passionate about his new endeavor.  Despite being young, he's been brewing for quite a while and knows a good deal.  He's looking at starting up brewing classes in the great kitchen he set up in the back room very soon.  One of his biggest focuses is to help get new people into homebrewing.  The whole area of Haddon Township is on the rise and more and more people are getting into craft beer, so this seems to be very fitting and appropriate for the area.  His shop is also located only a couple blocks from the PATCO station so it's even easy to get to for Philadelphians.

Lager lover, ale enthusiast, and brewmaster extraordinaire Scott Morrison hosts a St. Patty's Day beer dinner at World Cafe Live. Five terrific American-made craft-brewed Irish-style beers, paired with selections from Executive Chef Mike Breslin's own family recipes stretching back generations and utilizing the techniques taught to him while at study under Master Chefs in Ireland, will make this dinner feel like a night spent in the heart of the Irish countryside. Top the day off with a night cap of Bushmills 16 year old Irish whiskey (be careful – you know what they say: "beer before liquor"…) and traditional Irish music performed by Trolley Stop.
