World Wide Clout

I had the opportunity to meet and then interview the guys who did World Wide Clout, this years 3rd place winner of the Dogfish Head film festival.  Watch the video below.

The interview:

  1. Why didn't you use up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start in your movie?
Wow, we hit some already obscure beers in the movie (Old Dirty Bitter, Au Courant, Dans Saison), but to drop a BA Select, now that would have been pretty obscure, one-time-one-place style. OR, did you mean "why didn't we use the Konami Code and get 30 lives?" - now THAT, is a good question . . . !
  2. How hard was it to act out two roles in the same scene and how does it feel knowing that your hair might have out performed you?
Well, considering we had a cast of five people but eight roles through out the short film it was inevitable that some people were going to need to play more than one role. Erik Mitchell (Dan Saison, Paulie Santo, and Chic Choc) actually played three roles, so go figure - but it was easy enough because of the way we had it all lined-up for filming. On the other hand, knowing that my hair DID out perform me makes me quite proud of Mr. Olde School Barleysworth world premiere in the film segment, very convincing performance indeed.
  3. Were you disappointed to be left out of the golden shower and not get to indulge in a rare, delicious Dogfish brew on camera?
Fortunately, though I was left out of the Golden Shower scene (yes, the film really had a Golden Shower scene), I did get to indulge in the brew off camera. Since we only had one bottle cellared, and it was too funny not to use it in the movie, we actually enjoyed the beer off camera prior to the scene and then substituted a "stunt beer" for the actual Golden Shower scene. But really, if you want to talk about Golden Showers, we should talk about the original take of that scene, it was much less PG-13 than the current version to say the least.
  4. What was it like working alongside Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Carribean?
Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Carribean is a total method actor. In this film he played the role of Burton Baton, and would not let us call him anything besides Burton Baton for weeks while we were filming, both on and off set. If we slipped up and called him Johnny or Jack Sparrow or Robert Desjardin he would get all Christian Bale on us and start yelling calling us "amateurs" and other such nonsense.
  5. Lastly, any pointers for our readers who may want to grown an equally kick ass mustache?
Haha, well in order to grow a kick-ass mustache you have to have patience. I've been rockin' this 'stache for about 6 months, closer to 3-4 months at the time of the filming. So if you can get through the first month or two of growing it out you'll be good to go. Beeswax and mustache wax work great to help keep the ends in order, but the heat and humidity will wreck havoc on them in the summertime - jeez I sound like a little bitch, haha - enjoy the film!
