Vote Now To Name The Beer Advocate/Dogfish Head Collaboration Brew For 2010 Extreme Beer Fest!

Click the Beer Advocate Extreme Beer Fest image above to vote for Beer Advocate/Dogfish Head's NEW BREW, and be sure to read the article in the same link about the collaboration! For me, its a toss-up between Bromance, and Sloth Loves Chunk, since the Contra Konami Code beer was the name of last year's EBF brew.  Didn't know Dogfish Head had a beer named after the infamous Contra Konami code?  Check that out by clicking here.

Just How Real Is Your Ale? Greene King Insults American Craft Beer Drinkers

E-mail Print PDF

Sure, that looks like a cross, but secretly U.K. based Greene King is flashing the American craft beer drinker a big, green "Fuck You!" by pulling the wool over your eyes with fake beer engines!

The Following has been taken from the Facebook Group

"Tell Greene King To Stop Promoting Fake Beer Engines!"

CLICK HERE to join the cause!

Greene King Brewery has launched a program to flood America with fake beer engines (pseudo-cask handpumps) for dispensing filtered, kegged Old Speckled Hen.

Real cask-conditioned ale is becoming popular as a niche market in America, and people now recognise the beer engine, also known as a handpump, as a universal symbol of beer as it was invented to be. Misleadingly putting artificially gassed, filtered keg beer on such a symbol is confusing, deceitful, and potentially hurtful to the growth of true cask ale. It will also hurt the bars that have installed them as this campaign gains strength.

These Greene King devices are different from other fake beer engines previously encountered and widely scorned. The handle and plinth are what appears to be stainless steel, and the swan neck spout is oversized and incorporates its own cooling unit.

Misleading dispense is NOT TOLERATED in the U.K., where Greene King is from, thanks to the collective campaigning efforts of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). Greene King is insulting the American beer drinker by sending us these things THAT THEIR OWN COUNTRYMEN (AND WOMEN) FLAT OUT REJECT!

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE OF YOUR TIME AND JOIN THIS CAMPAIGN TO HALT THE TIDE OF MISLEADING DISPENSE.

MESSAGES OF BOYCOTT AND PRODUCT BANISHMENT POSTED ON THE 'WALL' HAVE BEEN EFFECTIVE IN OTHER CAMPAIGNS.

(Disclaimer: I am not encouraging anyone to do that, just stating a fact...)

Cheers to REAL CASK ALE!

In Early Studies, Hops May Prevent Prostate & Breast Cancer

E-mail Print PDF
Xanthohumol, a natural compound derived from hops, has been proven to block the action of estrogen by binding to its receptor.  Testosterone receptors function similarly to estrogen receptors, so research is being done to test the effects of xanthohumol in the prevention of prostate cancer.  All though the studies being done are in their early stages, the similarities between estrogen and testosterone receptors shows promise that xanthohumol may be a crucial factor in the prevention of prostate and breast cancer.  To read the full story, click here.  Cheers to your health!
